With the decline in student enrollment every year the Toronto District School Board came to the decision to cut schools out of the district that have less than half the number of students they should. The board made the argument that money and resources were going into these smaller school, money and resources that would be able to go to the schools with more students. Premier Dalton McGuinty, who had chosen not to intervene with the boards decision said "Boards everywhere – not just the TDSB – have got to grapple with the issue of declining enrollment and to make sure that they're using their precious resources ... in a way that best meets the needs of their students”. 91 out of the 550 schools are half empty, and the board believes that shutting them down will free up money that can be used to open up new schools in some of the fast growing neighborhoods. On the other side of things parents are not happy with the boards decisions and many believe that the reason for shutting down the schools is for the funding of the school boards rather than the schools themselves.

The article that I found to be the most interesting was about how the French government was working towards putting a stop to websites that promote poor eat habits and anorexia. The French want to put an end to about 400 websites that are lurking around the World Wide Web. Since 2000 many of the websites have been translated and posted in different languages. These websites contain information about crash dieting, binging, vomiting, and how to conceal drastic weight loss from parents. People that are caught publishing these websites could receive up to three years in prison and up to $71,000 in fines if this law is passed. (4/16/08 The Toronto Star)
