This week the Olympic flame went through Pakistan on its way to Beijing, China. but instead of running through the expected route, the torch went through the Jinnah Stadium where the most sports in Pakistan happen. The city was on high alert and security in the streets was extremely high. The flame that started its journey on March 24, will be in India on Thursday and finish its journey from Pakistan to Beijing in a 22-hour route.
The story has relevance because this years Olympic games will absolutely be a very controversial one. With the torch being passed throughout the country, drama is bound to explode. Human interest is an international news factor here, since teams throughout the world watch on the Olympics to root on their country. It has obvious prominence seeing that the Olympics only come once every four years and everyone's on end with the conflicts in China and obviously the Middle East.
Wednesday was the 61st anniversary of one of the first African American baseball, Jackie Robinson's first game with the Brooklyn Dodgers. As his late wife Rachel carries on his memory and the Jackie Robinson foundation to help students with money for school. People are very interested all over the world with international sports now that the Olympics are fast approaching. The story has oddity because you wouldn't realize that things so prominent in the U.S. would register so much in Canada.
