Gov. Eliot Spitzer resigned Wednesday after wire-tappers caught him in a “call-girl” scandal. The Politician allegedly had hired prostitutes in the past and is suspected to have spent tens of thousands of dollars on women who charge $5,500 an hour. Spitzer will be succeeded by Lt. Gov. David Paterson who will be the first black governor in New York’s history as well as the first legally blind political figure in the nation’s history. Many stock brokers on Wall Street were thrilled to hear of his resignation because he was also known to attack larger salaries.

This story has a great deal of proximity for the New York people and will affect the city a great deal. Prominence is also an element in this story because Spitzer is a high political figure. This story also has timeliness because this story has been developing within the past couple of days. The story also includes other elements in news such as human interest, impact, conflict, oddity, and service (Journal Sentinel, 3/12/08).

The story I found interesting was that protein could potentially lead to the spread of cancer. The study mainly targeted breast cancer in women, but it is, still, a huge breakthrough in the fight against cancer. Medical officers are working to try to find a way to counter act the protein to force a positive effect on the treatment for breast cancer. This study has a huge impact on the American people as well as people worldwide. Cancer is responsible for a great deal of deaths each year and this breakthrough could trigger other breakthroughs in the cure for cancer (Journal Sentinel, 3/13/08)

Wisconsin is looking for a new add to attract more people to visit Wisconsin (Journal Sentinel, 3/7/08). Women of a nondenominational evangelical church from Brookfield reached out to people in need by putting their faith into action (Journal Sentinel, 3/13/08). Limo driver dropped off a passenger at the police station after he allegedly assaulted her (Journal Sentinel, 3/11/08). The house failed to overturn Bush’s bill that prohibits the CIA from using harsh interrogation techniques (Journal Sentinel, 3/12/08). The Great Circus Parade will make its way back into Milwaukee after its six year absence (Journal Sentinel, 3/13/08).
