Barack Obama had his 4th consecutive win in the primaries making the Democratic race even closer. With Obama's victories is Maine, Louisiana, Nebraska, and Washington State, the focus turns to Ohio and Texas. The polls for those two states suggest voters are in favor of Clinton. After Clinton's loses in the previous four states, Clinton replaced her campaign leader, Patti Solis Doyle, with Maggie Williams.
This story is important because the primaries determine the Democratic presidential candidate. Since determining the next presidential candidate is such a big deal, this story has prominence. It also has timeliness because there are constant updates to the election. This story has proximity because the elections are important to United States citizens. Lastly, this story has drama, because of the complete sweep Obama has done in the primaries recently over Clinton. (The New York Times, 2/11/08, pg A1, A16)
My favorite story this week was the tentative deal reached in the TV and movie writers' strike. After months of members of the Writers Guild of America West and the Writers Guild of America East have been on strike for low pay, the strike seems close to an end. This story includes timeliness because the strike will be over soon. It also has impact because of the $2 billion dollars lost because of the strike. It also has a human interest appeal because people love to watch their favorite television shows. (The New York Times, 2/10/08, A20)
