Hillary Clinton was on top yet again Tuesday, by winning the primaries in Ohio, Texas, and Rhode Island. Clinton had been on a losing streak for a period of time now, with this being her recovery. For a while now it has seemed that Clinton could possibly be out of the running for president, however all of this has since changed. Clinton has lost the past 11 primaries to Obama, but on Tuesday won: 55 to 43 in Ohio, 51 to 47 in Texas. On the other side of the spectrum, Huckabee has dropped out of their race leaving McCain as the sole republican candidate.

This story is important because for a moment, it seemed as thought there would not be a woman in the 2008 Presidential race. The mere fact that Clinton refused to go down without a fight and rise again also is a great example of determination and proliferation. This story shows timeliness and importance because the presidential election will be occurring this year in November, and thus far this has been a close, "neck and neck" race. It has been constantly moving forward and results such as these are what help voters make educated decisions. This also shows conflict because the "Clinton-Obama" race is something few have not managed to escape. (Newsday, 3/5/2008, p.A2).

Also this week, 1980s Dirty Dancing dancer Patrick Swayze has been diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer. While tabloids have reported he was diagnosed in January and has less than 5 weeks to live, Swayze's publicist has denied reports. " The actor has very a limited amount of disease and appears to be responding well to treatment...", his publicist countered. This story is a human interest piece because disease such as cancer is a tragedy, and Swazye is a relatively popular actor. There will no doubt be condolences pouring in for he and his family, from his many fans. (Newsday, 3/6/2008, p.A12).
