Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton was victorious in Ohio and Texas Tuesday. In a turn of events, Sen. Clinton finally stopped Sen. Barack Obama in his 11 straight winning streak. Before the results were in, there was a general consensus that Sen. Clinton would be pushed out of the race. A new poll states that Democrats 2-to-1 would prefer Clinton to stay in now that she has won both states. (Newsday, 3/05/2008, p. A2)
This is the most important story of the week because once again, it discusses an ongoing issue that will determine who will be next to lead our country. The element that is most important is prominence. This story is so important since it affects everyone who lives in this country. It is just one of many publications that keeps the public updated on who is the closest to becoming the winning candidate. The element of time is contained in the story as well since it is a current event. The conflict element is there considering the journey to becoming president is one big conflict in itself. Although the proximity of the story isn’t geographically near us however; the results indirectly affect us in the end.
My favorite story of the week is titled Trump on the Ocean: Rejected! This article is about a proposed catering hall and restaurant for Jones Beach. Thankfully, it was declined. Donald Trump proposed to have the catering hall and restaurant take up 76,000-square-feet which would be a disaster considering I live five minutes away. What concerned me the most about the plan was the amount of traffic it was going to create. Now, Trump said he will sue the state over the decision. This (Newsday, 3/05/2008, p.A7)
